Ranking Up

Ranking up in the Regular Season

  • In order to rank up a thrower must TWICE score 83.333% of the available points at their current rank’s distances.

    • Throwers do not need to score 83.333% twice consecutively. Upranking scores can be separated by weeks or even seasons.

  • Once a thrower has hit the 83.3% mark twice they will move up to the next rank immediately.

    • There is no waiting period to begin throwing at a new rank. If a thrower ranks up in the final week of the regular season they will throw at their new distances for playoffs.

  • The total points available to a thrower depend on the league format being run.

  • A Conventional League allows for up to 180 points per week.

    •  An upranking score is 150 or higher.

  • A Cup League allows for up to 270 points per week, over two matches.

    • An upranking score in a Cup League is 225 or higher.

Ranking up in the Playoffs (Sandbagger Clause)

A thrower may move up in rank in the playoffs under the following conditions

  • The thrower either won the final tournament, or was the runner-up

  • The throwers 4 highest scoring games (without tiebreaks) equal more than 83.3% of total available points

  • A game has a possible 45 points. Four games would be a possible 180. A score of 150 or more would qualify for ranking up.

  • Regardless of whether the throw has hit the 83.3% mark before, hitting it in playoffs is a big accomplishment and will result in ranking up.

Ranking up to Master

Once a thrower has reached the Elite rank in any discipline and has had their first score of 83.3%, they are just one more 83.3% score away from ranking up to the Master rank. In order to have an officially recognized Master rank, the thrower is required to take additional steps above and beyond typical protocol.

To have a Master rank recognized by League Of Edges:

  • The thrower’s scoring throws must be recorded in their entirety, with no edits

  • The thrower and the targets must remain in frame for the entirety of the recording

  • The recording must be of a quality that allows for adequate review. Grainy, pixelated recordings will not be admissible.

  • The recording must be submitted to League Of Edges for review, along with a digital scorecard as provided by League Of Edges.

Inactivity

After a period of inactivity of at least 2 years a thrower may reassess their skills.

  • Once a reassessment has been completed, if a thrower ranks lower than their previous rank, that thrower will move through the ranks after only 1 score of at least 83.3%, until they reach their previously held rank.

Inactivity means total inactivity from League Of Edges and IKTHOF competition.

  • If a thrower ceases to compete in one or more discipline but continues competing in a second, and/or third, they are not considered inactive. Inactivity is applied only to competitors that have ceased all throwing.
