Lane Designations

There are different lane designations based on the preference and capability of the hosting venue(s). These are divided into our 6 categories of ranking and separated into classifications for knife and axe. For an affiliate venue to be given a designation they need to make and label lines on the floor at each required distance the designation requires. All designations require a line at each meter starting at 3m. Once photo or video is provided to show a venues lines have been made, the proper designation will be given.

Beginner Lanes

Knife + Axe

This designation is for venues with at least 3m of space from the target plus thrower space. Beginner lanes, however, don’t have space to move back to a 4m throwing distance. Throwers can compete at the Beginner level and rank up to Intermediate, but they could not compete at Intermediate, which means ranking beyond Intermediate is not possible.

Intermediate Lanes

Knife + Axe

This designation is for venues with at least 4m of space from the target plus thrower space. Intermediate lanes, however, don’t have space to move back to a 5m throwing distance. Throwers can compete at the Beginner and Intermediate levels and rank up to Advanced, but they could not compete at Advanced, which means ranking beyond Advanced is not possible.

Advanced lanes

Knife + Axe

This designation is for venues with at least 5m of space from the target plus thrower space. Advanced lanes, however, don’t have space to move back to a 6m throwing distance for knives or 7m throwing distance for axes. Throwers can compete at the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels and rank up to Pro, but they could not compete at Pro, which means ranking beyond Pro is not possible.

Pro Lanes

Knife

This designation is for venues with at least 6m of space from the target plus thrower space. Pro lanes, however, don’t have space to move back to a 7m throwing distance. Throwers can compete at the Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Pro levels and rank up to Elite, but they could not compete at Elite, which means ranking beyond Elite is not possible.

Pro Lanes

Axe

This designation is for venues with at least 7m of space from the target plus thrower space. Pro lanes, however, don’t have space to move back to a 9m throwing distance. Throwers can compete at the Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Pro levels and rank up to Elite, but they could not compete at Elite, which means ranking beyond Elite is not possible.

Master Lanes

Knife

This designation is for venues with at least 7m of space from the target plus thrower space. Master Knife lanes are capable of accommodating all distances for a thrower to reach the Master level.

Master Lanes

Axe

This designation is for venues with at least 9m of space from the target plus thrower space. Master Knife lanes are capable of accommodating all distances for a thrower to reach the Master level.

Mixed Designations

Because not all distances for knife and axe are the same it is possible for a venue to have different designations for each discipline. A venue with up to 6m of space would be eligible for the Pro knife designation. Since Pro Axe has a 7m minimum distance the venue would be given the Advanced designation (5m) for axe. This can happen also for venues with up to 7m of space. That venue would receive the Master lanes designation for knife and Pro for axes. Master lanes for axes require 9m of throwing space.
